TIBET IN EXILE 2011

My visit to Nepal this year focused on the situation of the exiled Tibetan community. I had the chance to see the traditional Lhama dances at a monastery nearby the Tibetan refugee settlement of Tashi Palkhiel nearby Pokhara. The dances happen during the Lhosar (Tibetan New Year celebrations) time and tell a different story with deeper meanings.

Later I went to the ceremony and demonstration to commemorate the 10. March uprising at Boudha temple in Kathmandu as a witness. This time, the Nepali police cracked down hard on the protesting Tibetans. Sometimes just for waving the Tibetan national flag.
